Religious Symbols of Many Faiths

I went looking to see what sorts of religious symbols were available for military tombstones and found this link . It has pictures of everything from Wicca to atheist. Here’s the Buddhist one, hit the link to see them all. I really like the idea that a service member can self identify themselves as the religion of their choice and it will be represented for them on the stone that marks their grave. I have a sneaking suspicion that it is closer to the ideal of the Founders than the complete suppression of individual religious expression that is being promoted by the left in our country today.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

  1. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof…

Everybody these days seems to latch on to the first part of that sentence, and then completely ignore the second part.

What they don't get is the point you made a post or two back. Government shouldn't promote one religion for all – but it shouldn't kick religious folks in the sack at every opportunity either. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

More tyranny of the crybaby. One or two people feign offense, and the majority have to kowtow.

  2. The Wicca inclusion in gravestone symbols only came a year or so ago, after a lawsuit by the spouse of a Wicca-practicing service member. I remember blogging on it at the time.
